Changes to Chicago's Sexual Harassment Laws

Mayor Lightfoot and the Commission on Human Relations amended the city's sexual harassment laws in April 2022 to make them stronger and to uphold zero tolerance of violence and harassment in the workplace.

The six areas of change are:

1. Enhanced definition of sexual harassment

2. Written policy & written notice requirements

3. Adds safety measures for employees

4. Increase the statute of limitations

5. New training requirements - Bystander training for all employees

6. Increased penalties
