Food Safety Manager
Food Handler Permit vs. Certified Food Safety Manager
Food Handler Permit vs. Certified Food Safety Manager
A key distinction in Utah's food safety regulations is that Certified Food Safety Managers are exempt from the requirement to obtain a food handler's permit. These managers undergo a separate, more advanced certification process, and their role is to oversee food handlers, ensuring compliance with health department regulations and maintaining food safety standards within the establishment.
Each food service establishment in Utah is required to have at least one full-time Certified Food Safety Manager at every business location. However, the manager is not required to be on-site during all operating hours. If you run a food service business without additional employees, you must obtain this certification yourself to meet state requirements.
