HACCP Step 6: Verifying Your HACCP Plan – Ensuring It Works as Intended

A HACCP plan isn’t “set it and forget it.” Verification ensures the system is effective and being followed correctly.

Verification activities can include:

  • Reviewing CCP monitoring records
  • Conducting plant audits
  • Calibrating instruments
  • Confirming corrective actions were effective

Verification provides assurance that your food safety program works in real life—not just on paper. It’s a way of asking: “Are we doing what we said we’d do, and is it keeping food safe?”

Without verification, even the most detailed HACCP plan may fail to deliver real results.
