Maryland-Based Firm, Key Management Partners, is a consulting firm with government contracts.  The CEO of the firm violated federal law when they sexually harassed a female employee.  According to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) lawsuit, the CEO subjected the single mother to unwelcome sexual propositioning and then terminated her because she rejected his advances.  The lawsuit also charges the CEO with retaliation when the company unjustifiably opposed the employee’s application for unemployment benefits and gave a negative job reference to a potential employer.

These actions violate Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits retaliation and employment discrimination based on sex, including sexual harassment.  After first attempting to reach a pre-litigation settlement through its conciliation process, the EEOC filed its lawsuit in U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland (Civil Action No. 8:21-cv-02496-PX).

The EEOC’s Philadelphia District Office investigates discrimination charges and prosecutes cases arising out of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia, parts of New Jersey, Ohio and Virginia and the District of Columbia.
