Oklahoma Mandatory Reporter Training

The purpose of this online course is to help all Oklahoma Mandated Reporters understand their critical role in protecting children by recognizing and reporting child abuse

Everyone who suspects child abuse or neglect should call the Child Protection Services Hotline within Department of Human Services to make a report, but Mandated Reporters are required by law to do so, with penalties for failure to do so ranging from fines and/or potential jail time. 

In the state of Oklahoma, Mandatory Reporting laws are very strict and all professionals are required by law to report Oklahoma Stat. Title 10A, § 1-2-101, which states that any person, agency, organization, or entity that knows or in good faith suspects child abuse or neglect shall make a report. Any person or institution that has cause to suspect abuse or neglect shall report. No professional groups or persons are specified; although reference is made to commercial film and photographic print processors or computer technicians in the statute. 

Oklahoma Stat. Title 10A, § 1-2-101 states that The Oklahoma Department of Human Services shall electronically record each referral received by the statewide centralized child abuse reporting hotline and establish a secure means of retaining the recordings for 12 months. The recordings shall be confidential and subject to disclosure only if a court orders the disclosure of the referral. The department shall in all cases redact any information identifying the reporting party unless otherwise ordered by the court.
