Utah Food Handler Permit Reciprocity
In Utah, food handler permits issued by any county health department are valid statewide, ensuring uniform standards across the state. However, Utah typically does not accept food handler permits issued by other states.
The only exception to this rule applies to permits issued to backcountry outfitters by the United States Department of the Interior or by public health authorities in Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, or Wyoming. According to the Utah Office of Administrative Rules, this exception is limited to food handling at backcountry food establishments, allowing certain outfitters to operate across state lines without obtaining an additional Utah permit.
