What are Server Training Requirements in Michigan? 

In Michigan, obtaining a new on-premises license or transferring over 50% interest in an existing license requires submitting proof of server training certification for at least supervisory personnel to the MLCC within 180 days of license issuance if mandated by the approval order. 

Moreover, on-premises licensees must have trained supervisory personnel on each shift and during all hours of alcohol service must, who have completed an approved server training program as per MCL 436.1906. 

Failure to furnish Server Training Certification may result in fines, suspension, or license revocation. 

In Michigan, individuals who serve or sell alcoholic beverages are required to complete server training approved by the Michigan Liquor Control Commission (MLCC). 

The training is designed to promote responsible alcohol consumption, prevent sales to minors and visibly intoxicated patrons, and reduce liability for businesses and servers.

After completing the training, servers, and sellers must keep their certificate of completion on file and make it available to MLCC inspectors upon request.
